Ready for some hives

The platform is level and we're ready to put the hive boxes in place. Time to go pick up the bees. Purchased four 3 lbs. packages of bees. Two for here and two for hives at Horizon Cellars. |

We set up some seating at a safe distance for anyone who wanted to watch us hive the bees. Four brave souls enjoyed the show, including Jenn, who is allergic to bee stings! |
2 hives! No waiting!

Hives are placed and ready for some bees. We decided to paint the hives this time. We hope the bees like their pretty homes. |
Welcome Home

Chris has just "poured" the bees into the hive. They are busy checking out the accommodations. It helps that it smells like beeswax. |
Pictures of Starrlight Mead's hives! Chris and Ben learned lots at bee school. Here are some pictures of them installing 4 packages of bees into new hives. Two of the hives are at the meadery. Two are at Horizon Cellars in Siler City.
